Year 1983 was the worst for Scotch whisky industry following World War II. Over 20 distilleries closed due to whisky overproduction and lack of demand. One of the victims was St. Magdalene located in the small town of Linlithgow. The distillery was capable of producing about 1.3 million liters of spirit per annum; it was double distilled spirit what diverged from the Lowlands’ standard. The Old Malt Cask expression from October 2008 contains whisky distilled in September 1982 and aged in refill sherry butt no. DL 4712. After 26 years the cask yielded 511 bottles at 50% abv.
