Stratheden Distillery (also known as Auchtermuchty Distillery) operated in Fife from 1829 to 1926.
In 2013 The Lost Distillery Co., the company established by Scott Watson and Brian Woods, former employees of Diageo, resurrected the long forgotten brand. The company’s stated mission is to “create present day expressions of legendary whiskies that belonged to the craft of whisky distilling almost a century ago”. The company established a working relationship with Professor Michael Moss of Glasgow University and his team of archivists and uses their expertise to recreate the character of the original whiskies. The first bottlings (Stratheden and Auchnagie) were launched in 2103.

Palate: slightly oily, chocolate croissants, apples, candied lemon peel, white pepper, vanilla salt, delicate oaky bitterness and fading hint of smoke.
Finish: medium long and pretty peppery, with rather shy notes of vanilla, fruit and touch of smoke.
