A limited release of Springbank, part of Douglas Laing’s respected Old Malt Cask Selection. The whisky was distilled in June 1993 and aged in refill hogshead no. 4936 for 16 years. Bottled in June 2009, unchill-filtered, at standard Old Malt Cask alcohol content of 50%, with an outrun of 310 bottles. Springbank is one of the most unique Scottish distilleries, the only one in Scotland, which carries out the entire production process, form malting to bottling, on site.
Nose: fruity and waxy, with briny, coastal notes, apricots, pineapple, vanilla, caramel, almonds, hints of marzipan, and touch of peat.
Palate: combination of fruit, salt and peat, pineapple, mango, apples, salted nuts, dark chocolate, pepper, hints of nutmeg and mustard seed.
Finish: pretty long, briny, peaty and spicy with hints of vanilla and chocolate.
