Extremely limited single cask bottling from the reputable independent bottler Douglas Laing & Co, part of prestigious Old & Rare Platinum Selection.
Linkwood is a pretty big size distillery located in Speyside, a major malt supplier to leading Diageo’s blends such as Johnnie Walker, White Horse, Haig’s and Bell’s. The 2004 Old & Rare single cask expression contains whisky distilled in 1974 and bottled three decades later un-chill filtered and at natural strength of 43.6% abv. Only 268 bottles were produced.
Nose: pretty fresh for its age, apples, plums, hints of hibiscus, dark chocolate, vanilla, sweet pastries, traces of pepper and nutmeg, oak and distant whiff of smoke.
Palate: fruity and spicy, apples, oranges, grapefruits, figs, toffee, candied ginger, dash of pepper and nutmeg, walnuts, subtle oaky bitterness and touch of peat.
Finish: long, oaky and peppery with touch of licorice and peat smoke.
