Silver Seal was founded in 2000. Before that it was known as Sestante, which in turn was founded in 1979. Massimo Righi bought the two brands in 2010, after being on search for whisky barrels to supply the label since 2008. Linlithgow (aka St. Magdalene) is one of the hardest to find single malts in 21st Century. The distillery ceased operations in 1983 and most of the buildings were converted into apartments. The whisky distilled in 1982 was aged for 25 years in ex-sherry butt no. 789. Bottled at natural strength of 63.4% abv in 2007 with an outrun of 601 bottles.

Nose: pretty complex, forest floor, damp wool, apples, lemon peel, grapefruits, almonds, freshly ground coffee, oak, hints of linseed and distant note of peat.

Palate: rich, leafy and oaky, garden herbs, toffee, honey roasted nuts, cappuccino, orange peel, pepper, hints of licorice and tobacco.

Finish: long and oaky, with notes of herbs, pepper, lemon grass and pinch of salt.
