Port Ellen has been Independent Bottlers’ sweetheart for years. In the early 2000s there were hundreds (if not thousands) of Port Ellen casks in circulation and each year dozens of expressions hit the market. The bottler presented here may need a little introduction. The company is called Taste Still, in fact it is a Whisky Tasting Club that was founded in 2000 by Hubert Corman Jr. It was located in a room above the shop Corman-Collins in Battice, Belgium. Around 2004 the first bottlings of whisky were released under M&H Selection (M&H stands for Mario & Hubert). Soon they changed the name of the range to Taste Still. Corman-Collins works closely with the French retailer La Maison du Whisky and is allowed to call its shop La Maison du Whisky Belgique.
The 1982 Vintage Port Ellen presented here comes from a single ex-bourbon cask. It was released in November 2005 at natural strength of 55.7% abv with an outrun limited to 240 bottles.
