The name Sestante is well known among whisky connoisseurs and collectors. The legendary Italian whisky importer and bottler operated from the late 1970s to early 1990s. Nowadays Sestante bottlings are extremely hard to find, they are cherished by collectors and very seldom offered for sale. In 2010 the Silver Seal Company was founded, regarded as the spiritual successor to the brand. Both brands are currently owned by Massimo Righi, who keeps the original one alive as The Sestante Collection. The Port Ellen presented here is an original Sestante bottling from 1988. Whisky distilled in 1974 was bottled at natural strength of 65.5% abv after 14 years of aging.
