Port Ellen Distillery ceased production in 1983 and remains one of the most mourned closed distilleries. While in the 1990s independent bottlers flooded market with expressions of Port Ellen today their releases are extremely scarce. Berrys’ Own Selection is the range of single malt whiskies bottled by Berry Bros & Rudd, the oldest family owned spirit and wine merchant in the world (established 1698). Their 2007 release of Port Ellen is a single cask bottling (cask no. 2851 filled in 1982). The whisky was bottled at natural strength of 55.6% abv.
