In 1966 Mark Edwin Andrews purchased 15th Century Knappogue Castle in County Clare in Ireland. In around this time he started to buy casks of fine pot still whiskeys from top Irish distilleries. His most famous bottling was 1951 Knappogue Castle, 36 years old pot still whiskey sourced from the original Tullamore distillery. Today Knappogue Castle is a single malt whiskey bottled by Mark Andrews III, the son of Mark Edwin. The 16 years old expression presented here comprises triple-distilled whiskey aged for 14 years in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. The batch was released in 2013 with an outrun of 3300 bottles.
