Robert A. Merry & Co. Ltd was established in 1868 with depots in New Ross, Waterford and Dungarvan. The company made its name trading wines, spirits, teas, coffees and groceries.
In the late 20th Century the Merry’s whiskey brand was introduced and that included single malt and blended whiskey, both based on Cooley’s whiskeys. Today the Merry’s brand is owned by The Gleeson Group and is associated with Irish Cream Liquor rather than whiskey. The major markets for Merry’s are USA, England and Russia.
