Tomintoul Distillery sits on the banks of the river Avon, within the parish of Glenlivet thus its right to use “the Glenlivet” suffix stands really tall. The distillery was founded in 1964 by two whisky broking companies, which shortly merged with Whyte & Mackay, leading producers of blended whisky. Tomintoul single malt was launched in 1974, a 12 years old expression, which gained rather modest popularity. In the 21st Century Tomintoul offers wide range of product, from young, no age statement Tlàth to rare and sophisticated 40 years old. The 1976 Vintage was introduced in 2007 and the following year scored gold medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition.
