A malt whisky distilled at Yamazaki distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. The plant is located amongst most exceptional scenery in Shimamoto, not far from Kyoto. Yamazaki is a pioneer of Japanese malt whisky. When creating his whisky, Torii was inspired by the traditional Scottish art of distillation. The Distiller’s Reserve expression was launched in 2014. It is composed from spirits of various ages, which matured in sherry casks, red Bordeaux wine casks and Japanese Mizunara oak casks.
Nose: Expressive, with notes of vanilla, honey, cherries, raspberries, raisins, oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, sandalwood and ginger.
Palate: Delicate and silky, with notes of vanilla, honey, coconut, caster sugar, candyfloss, cherries, oranges, cinnamon, oak, cocoa and nuts.
Finish: Medium length and sweet, with nuts and fruits.
