In 1966 Cork Distilleries Co. joined forces with their archrivals, John Powers and John Jameson from Dublin. The newly formed entity called Irish Distillers Group soon decided to move production from Dublin and consolidate it at the Midleton Distillery. The new Midleton Distillery started operations in July 1975 while the Old Midleton closed and was subsequently converted into visitor’s center. Midleton 26 years old commemorates 175th Anniversary of the Old Midleton Distillery (founded 1825). It comprises pot still whiskey distilled in 1973 in the original distillery, aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and finished in individually numbered port pipes. With only 1000 bottles being produced Midleton 26 years old is a collectors’ gem.
