An exceptional Nikka whisky, distilled at Yoichi distillery on the northern island of Hokkaido. The Yoichi distillery was founded in 1934 and is the birthplace of the Nikka brand. At Yoichi whisky is made following the traditional methods brought over from Scotland. It is distilled in relatively small copper stills heated by open coal fire, a practice abandoned altogether by Scottish distilleries by now. This expression is the oldest official bottling of the whisky from the distillery. It was composed from spirits that matured for at least 20 years in various types of oak casks. It was launched in 2007. Released in limited editions. Packed in a box reminiscent of the traditional Japanese art of origami.
