Scapa, founded 1885, has often been described as “the Orkney other distillery”. It is located near Kirkwall, the capitol of Orkney, and indeed, it has been living in a shadow of its great neighbor, Highland Park Distillery. Currently Scapa is owned by Chivas Bros, subsidiary of Pernod Ricard, and produces close to 1.3 million liters of spirit per annum. Gordon & MacPhail hold bottling license for the brand and release it uniquely labeled as part of the Distillery Labels range. Scapa 1998 Vintage, bottled 2015, comprises whisky aged in refill sherry and bourbon casks.
