Bushmills Distillery loves to make a claim to be the oldest distillery in the world based on 7-year distilling license granted to Sir Thomas Phillipps in April 1608. Those days such permits were very common, in fact three months earlier, in January, similar license was granted to Charles Waterhouse and it covered the location where Middleton Distillery is working today. We are not going to try to solve the seniority issue, Bushmills has been working on its current site since 1784 what makes it pretty old distillery. Bushmills 12 years old Distillery Reserve is a lovely single malt available exclusively at the distillery with an option of personalized label. The whisky was aged predominantly in ex-Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 40% abv.
