Tomintoul Distillery (est. 1964) is located in Speyside, inside the Glenlivet estate. It is named after the nearby village of Tomintoul, the highest village in Scottish Highlands. Tomintoul labels itself as ‘The Gentle Dram’ and it certainly is one of the lightest Speyside single malts. In the new Century the distillery has been running at full capacity producing 3.3 million liters of spirit per annum. Tomintoul 33 years old was introduced in 2009 as a replacement to 27 years old and comprises whisky aged in ex-bourbon barrels. In 2010 Whisky Magazine named it the Best Speyside Single Malt.
