The Six Isles Blended Malt was created by Ian Macleod Distillers at the turn of the Century. It contains six whiskies from six Scottish islands, with each island represented by one distillery. It is very easy to name four of them – Jura, Talisker, Arran and Tobermory/Ledaig but we cannot be certain about the Islay and the Orkney. The blended malt captures distinctive styles and flavors, from smoky and peaty to heathery and honey notes, with pinch of salt and touch of iodine. It is like a journey along the west and north coast of Scotland, with Lochranza (Arran) being our starting point and Kirkwall (Orkney) our final destination. The whisky is bottled of natural color and without chill-filtration.
Nose: mildly smoky and medicinal, a whiff of sea air, buttered toast, honey, notes of moist clay and forest floor, lemon peel and touch of seaweed.
Palate: young and fresh, campfire smoke and ashes, smoked fish, lemon grass, dash of pepper, delicate honey and vanilla notes and a pinch of salt.
Finish: medium long and light, vanilla, honey, peat smoke, hints of brine and iodine.
