A very rare bottling of Royal Brackla, part of the prestigious Rare Malts series. The whisky was distilled in 1978, when the distillery was owned by DCL, and bottled in 1998 at natural strength of 59.8% abv. Royal Brackla was included into Rare Malts range only once, thus the bottling carries great collectors’ value. In 1998 the distillery, along with the Dewar’s brand, was sold to Bacardi. The Rare Malts series was phased out in 2005 and we can take for granted that it will never be re-launched.
Nose: malty and slightly grassy with notes of honeydew melon, bananas, grapes, traces of pepper and ginger and fading hints of smoke.
Palate: fruity and spicy, peaches, banana bread, raisins, vanilla custard, caramel, candied ginger, dash of pepper, hints of lemon zest and oak.
Finish: fairly long and spicy with notes of ginger, vanilla and oaky dryness.
