Penderyn Welsh single malt was launched on St David’s Day, March 1, 2004, in the presence of HRH Prince Charles. Over the next decade Penderyn has won a number of international rewards for the quality and taste of spirit as well as for its distinctive and unique packaging. The Madeira expression is part of the original range, it contains whiskies aged in first and second fill ex-bourbon casks (the first fills sourced from Buffalo Trace Distillery) and finished for a few moths in Madeira barriques obtained from Portuguese cooperage J. Dias & Ca., a renowned barrel supplier to wine industry, established in 1935. Penderyn Madeira was the winner of the Best World Whisky category at 2012 International Whisky Competition.
Nose: rich, breakfast cereals, toffee, raisins, apples, bananas, peaches, delicate grassy and herbal notes and touch of oak.
Palate: sweet and spicy, toffee, vanilla custard, sweet pastries, apples, peaches, cinnamon, ginger and hint of eucalyptus.
Finish: medium long, pretty spicy, ginger, white pepper, toffee and oak.
