Dufftown is one of the biggest malt distilleries in Diageo’s portfolio capable of distilling 6 million liters of spirit per annum. Although over 95% of the output goes for blending the Singleton of Dufftown introduced in 2006 keeps gaining market share. The 18 years old expression was launched along with 15 years old in 2011 for the European market. It was an addition to the standard 12 years old and a step towards premium segment. The whisky was aged mainly in white American oak with little addition of European oak.
Nose: rich and sweet, vanilla, toffee, sweet pastry, apples, cherries, hints of cocoa and ginger.
Palate: smooth, slightly nutty, vanilla custard, honey, sweet cereals, peaches, orange zest, apples, traces of fennel and mint.
Finish: long, spicy and nutty, cinnamon, oak, some peaches.
