Yellow Spot is a legendary Irish whiskey brand developed by Mitchell & Son, the Dublin wine merchants. They had a lot of empty wine casks at their disposal and used them for aging whiskey purchased from distilleries. The warehouse staff marked casks with different color spots to indicate their maturation time and those days yellow spot was reserved for 12 years olds. Yellow Spot disappeared from the market in the early 1960s, it returned in May 2012, as part of the Irish Distillers commitment to reestablish single pot still category. Yellow Spot is a triple distilled whiskey aged in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks supplemented by ex-Malaga casks. Only 500 cases will be released annually.
