Ballechin is a name of farm distillery, which operated in neighborhood of Edradour Distillery until 1927.
In 2006 the brand returned on the market as a heavily peated expression of Edradour single malt (phenols content in malt 50 ppm). Batch # 7 released in 2012 contains whisky aged solely in ex-Bordeaux hogsheads. Alike previous batches it was bottled at 46% abv with an outrun limited to 6000 bottles.
Nose: well balanced, peat smoke, raspberries, black currants, orange zest, vanilla, pepper, hints of hay and herbs.
Palate: pretty complex, red fruit, peat, honey, cinnamon rolls, nutmeg, black pepper, traces of leather.
Finish: long and peaty, winey with fair amount of spice.
