There is not widely known that John Jameson who founded Jameson Distillery in Dublin in 1780 is an indirect contributor to the invention of the radio. Gugliemo Marconi born in 1874 was a son of the Italian aristocratic landowner and his Irish/Scottish wife Annie Jameson, granddaughter of John Jameson, what makes Gugliemo great grandson of the famous Irish whisky maker. The first commercial radio use took place in 1895, a broadcast from Ireland to Nova Scotia and the Jameson 100 Years of Radio commemorates 100th Anniversary of that event. The whiskey is a creation of Jameson’s master blender Barry Walsh and his innovative recipe was later adapted into Jameson Gold. The Marconi Edition is a marriage of triple distilled pot still and grain whiskies aged for 10 years and longer. What set it apart from any other on the market was using of 10 years old virgin American oak casks for the first time in the formula of Irish whiskey. Jameson 100 Years of Radio was released in 1995 for Duty Free market and today remains one of the most collectable Irish whiskeys.
