Talisker Distillery takes its name from a small farm near the village of Carbost on the Isle of Skye. It was founded in 1830 and until 1928 used triple distillation customary to Lowland distilleries. Currently it is owned by Diageo and produces 2.7 million liters of spirit per annum. Talisker 1982 Vintage bottled at natural strength of 58.8% in 2003 comprised whiskies aged exclusively in refill ex-bourbon casks and was a follow up to the famous 20 years old ex-sherry cask released the year before. The 2002 sherry wood edition was limited to 9000 bottles, while 2003 bourbon wood to 12000 bottles.
