Cragganmore Distillery was founded in 1869 by John Smith of Glenfarclas’ fame and is currently owned by Diageo.
There are two pairs of stills with production capacity of 2.2 million liters of spirit per annum. Cragganmore is a major component of two blended whiskies – Old Parr and White Horse. The 10 years old expression is a unique, sherry aged Cragganmore, released in 2004 at natural strength of 60.1% abv with an outrun of 15 000 bottles.
Nose: rich, big sherry statement, toffee, grapes, honey, apples, cantaloupe, traces of oak, herbs and peat smoke.
Palate: incredibly rich, honey, dried figs and dates, peanut butter, almonds, crème brûlée, cloves, cinnamon and sherried oak.
Finish: long and spicy, dried fruit, sherry, oak with whiffs of peat smoke.
