Cutty Sark 25 years old was launched at the end of 1998 originally for the Middle East and Japanese markets. Both American oak ex-bourbon barrels and European and American oak ex-sherry casks took part in the formula with main malt components coming from Glenrothes, Macallan, Tamdhu and Highland Park distilleries, while grain coming from Invergordon and North British. Over 20% of sherry wood whiskies came from first fill casks. In 2003 Cutty Sark 25 years old was named “Best blended Scotch whisky in the world” by Whisky Magazine. The original gold label was replaced with the blue one after the brand was acquired by the Edrington Group from the original owners Berry Bros. & Rudd in 2010.
