The village of Aberfeldy sits on the south bank of the River Tay. The distillery bearing its name was built between 1896 and 1898 by John Dewar & Sons and some of the original buildings are still in use today.
Initially the entire output was used for blending and in the 21st Century Aberfeldy is still a backbone of Dewar’s White Label. Since Bacardi Martini purchased the distillery in 1998 the sales of its single malt are on the rise and currently exceed 300 000 bottles. The 21 years old expression was introduced in 2005.
Nose: soft and sweet, lots of honey, vanilla, peaches, oranges, coconut and just a whiff of smoke.
Palate: perfectly balanced, vanilla, honey, apple tart, dates, oranges, plums and traces of sherried oak.
Finish: Medium long and surprisingly dry, oaky with traces of peat.
