In he early 1990s, after great success of Classic Malts range, United Distillers (predecessor of Diageo) started promoting single malts from lesser-known distilleries, usually contributors to the company vast blended whisky portfolio. These bottlings are known as Flora & Fauna series. The whisky labels depict representative of flora and fauna popular on the distillery site; in case of Rosebank it is a little rose. Rosebank 12 years old was part of the original Flora & Fauna release and remains one of the most sought after expression from that range.
Nose: delicate yet complex, dried flowers, hay, apples, pears, honey, sweet cereals, lemon zest, touch of ginger and delicate herbal notes.
Palate: malty, floral and fruity, honey, hints of vanilla, lemon tart, oranges, apples and delicate grassy and nutty notes.
Finish: fairly long, fruity and floral with delicate notes of herbs and dried grass.
