In 2004 the Macdonald family, owners of Glenmorangie plc, agreed to sell the company to Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy for £300 million.
Just three years later the entire Glenmorangie range got a complete makeover. The interesting addition to wood finishes was Nectar D’Òr, whisky aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Sauternes casks. For the first few years Nectar D’Òr was bottled without age statement, since 2011 carries age destination, 12 years old. Either one is a perfect match for double shot espresso.
Nose: dessert wine characteristics, sweet oats, apricots, coconut flakes, caramel, toffee, orange zest, traces of cloves and nutmeg.
Palate: rich and fruity, apricots, grapes, plums, quince jam, lemon tart, honey roasted nuts, candied ginger, nutmeg and delicate oaky dryness.
Finish: long, lemon zest, apricot jam, vanilla custard and traces of ginger and nutmeg.
