Cruach-Mhòna (Gaelic for “peat stack”) was launched in 2010 as a part of the distillery’s Travel Retail range.
The release indicated departure from the standard range of almost un-peated whiskies or at least a smoky addition to it. Cruach-Mhòna carries no age statement and is bottled unchill-filtered with rather high 50% abv.
Nose: pungent, malty, peat smoke, seaweed, eucalyptus drops, garden herbs and quite shy fruity notes.
Palate: peaty and tarry, seaweed, creamy maltiness, licorice, grain of salt and delicate fruitiness.
Finish: medium long and warming, peat, oak and hint of spices.
