It is a common knowledge that Blair Athol single malt is a backbone of Bell’s blends, thus official bottlings are rather rare.
Here we have one, part of the very prestigious Rare Malts Selection, unfortunately discontinued 10 years ago. Only 6000 bottles of this exceptional 27 years old cask strength whisky (54.7% abv) were released in 2003. The value of all Rare Malts bottlings have been continuously growing and chances for the rebirth of this range are more or less zero.
Nose: rich, roasted chestnuts, dark chocolate, toffee, almonds, pretty strong oak statement.
Palate: complex, nutella, chocolate shortbread, orange zest, cinnamon, restrained sherry, and oak.
Finish: long, sweet and spicy, candied ginger and sherried oak.
