Auchroisk Distillery was founded in 1974 by Justerini & Brooks in order to supply malt for the J&B brand. The outcome exceeded company’s expectations and 12 years later the whisky was introduced as Singleton of Auchroisk. The owners of J&B, International Distillers & Vintners, became part of Diageo in 1998. The latter discontinued the Singleton expression and three years later added Auchroisk to well respected Flora & Fauna series. Back in the 1990s some called The Singleton of Auchroisk “A Designer Whisky”.
