Rather unique expression of Aberlour introduced in 2002 for Travel Retail customers and now hard to find.
It is a marriage of ex-sherry butts and ex-bourbon hogsheads Aberlours aged for 14 years and then for an additional year transferred into first fill ex-Oloroso sherry butts. During finishing maturation the whisky developed distinctive sherry characteristics and many consumers described it as “Master Blender’s Masterpiece”.
Nose: smooth and sweet, earthy, nutty, floral, raisins, honey, sherried oak with very gentle peat.
Palate: nutty with strong sherry notes, toffee, lemon zest, licorice, hints of pepper and herbs.
Finish: medium long, nutty with butterscotch and spice.
