A malt whisky distilled at Yamazaki distillery, founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii. The plant is located amongst most exceptional scenery in Shimamoto, not far from Kyoto.
Yamazaki is a pioneer of Japanese malt whisky. When creating his whisky, Torii was inspired by the traditional Scottish art of distillation. The 18-year-old expression has received numerous awards and enjoys huge popularity with whisky connoisseurs. It is a marriage of spirits matured in ex-sherry and Japanese oak casks, which impart a deep and full flavour.
Nose: Very oaky, with resin, citrus peel, sherry, plums, pears, apples, sweet and sour cherries, leather, caramel and chocolate.
Palate: Deep and full, with oakiness, resin, flowers, sherry, orange juice, spices, marmalade, forest and orchard fruits.
Finish: Very long, pleasant and warming, with fruits, citrus fruits and oak.
