A characteristic blended malt whisky produced by Nikka. Its formula is based on spirits distilled at Yoichi distillery on the island of Hokkaido, complemented by the spirits from Miyagikyo distillery on the island of Honshu. The whisky is called “Red”, as it is produced with the use of unpeated malt, which gives it a rich, creamy and fruity flavour. Composed from spirits matured for about 5 years in traditional oak casks. Pure Malt Red is sold in characteristic bottles resembling somewhat old fashioned medicine bottles.
Nose: Clear and fruity, with nuts, apples, pears, blackberries, raspberries, plums, dates, malt and cane sugar.
Palate: Very fruity and buttery, with freshly cut herbs, sugar, spice, nuts, cranberries, blackberries and pears.
Finish: Well-balanced, with malt, ripe fruits and nuts.
