The Giffard brand was established in 1885 by Émile Giffard, the pharmacist and owner of pharmacy in Angers, created the formula of Menthe-Pastille Liqueur.
Today his company is still family owned and is run by Bruno Giffard and his sister Edith Giffard, Emile’s great grandson and great granddaughter. The Giffard liqueurs and syrups collection is diverse and unique ranging from classic Cassis or Curaçao Triple Sec to modern inventions like Banane du Brèsil and Pamplemousse. The range is led by the company’s signature liqueur, Menthe-Pastille, then divided into Premium, Specialty and Syrup ranges. The new addition to the range is a small selection of high quality eau de vie made from various fruits grown in France and macerated for several moths in eau de vie.
Giffard Eau-de-Vie Poire William is a classic example of pear brandy. Pears are sourced from an orchard on Maine et Lore; they are macerated in neutral alcohol, slowly redistilled and bottled at 43% abv.
Giffard Eau de Vie Poire William has powerful pear flavor with hints if vanilla and white pepper and is best enjoyed as digestive, neat or with a couple of ice cubes.
