Old Pulteney Flotilla range was introduced in 2012. It was 2000 Vintage bottling launched in collaboration with the renowned French whisky retailer La Maison du Whisky during the 2012 Brest International Maritime Festival.
The second and the third installments in the series (Vintages 2004 and 2005 respectively), destined mainly for the French market followed in 2014 and 2015. The ‘Fourth Flotilla’ 2008 Vintage was created exclusively for Western Europe. Alike the previous bottlings, the whisky was aged in first fill ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 46% abv. Pulteney Distillery was founded in 1826; it is currently owned by Inver House Distillers and equipped with a single pair of stills can produce 1.8 million liters of spirit per annum.
Nose: fruity and maritime, apples, pears, peaches, oranges, vanilla cream, caramel, toffee, coconut flakes, dash of ginger and whiffs of sea breeze.
Palate: soft and creamy, vanilla cream, butterscotch, coconut flakes, bananas, orange peel, baked apples, ginger, lemon pepper and dash of cinnamon.
Finish: medium long, with notes of ripe summer fruit, vanilla, caramel, ginger, sea salt, dash of pepper and oak.
