Fortunella Golden Orange Liqueur is a brainchild of Lukas Stafin, an innovative bartender with 15 years of experience and Dariusz Plazewski, founder and director of London-based Bimber Distillery.
Golden Orange is another name for kumquat, the smallest member of the orange family and the liqueur is named after explorer Robert Fortune, who introduced kumquats to London back in 1846. Fortunella is made with fresh kumquats (sourced from China, India, South Africa and South America) macerated in alcohol and very little addition of sugar. The label is inspired by Chinese herbal remedies and features a golden orange tree with the words ‘golden orange’ written in Chinese lettering. Fortunella was launched in the spring of 2019 and immediately scored bronze medal at the 2019 International Wine & Spirit Competition.
Fortunella Golden Orange releases aromas of zesty kumquats, with hints of orange zest, lemons and vanilla; on the palate lots of kumquats and vanilla cream balanced with peppery spice.
