Hennessy has been by far the best selling cognac brand (7.8 million cases in 2018) responsible for almost 40% of world’s cognac sales. Hennessy X.O. was created by Maurice Hennessy in 1870 for the family members and his circle of friends.
It was the first cognac classified as X.O. (Extra Old). The company uses grapes grown in four of the six growing areas – Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Borderies and Fins Bois. The current X.O. is a blend of about 100 eaux-de-vie made form Ugni Blanc grapes and aged for up to 30 years. The cognac is presented in elegant, pear-shaped decanter decorated in grape vines and grapes. Since 2005 Hennessy X.O. scored six gold medals at San Francisco World Sprit Competition.
