The Glenlee is a standard blended whisky from Aceo Ltd. portfolio, the owners of Murray McDavid.
The brand was created in honor of the Glenlee, the ship built in 1896, which circumnavigated the globe four times and passed through the storms of Cape Horn fifteen times. By the 1980s she was left completely forgotten in Seville Harbour after being used by Spanish Navy as training vessel, then rescued from dereliction by the Clyde Maritime Trust in 1992. Today she stands fully restored on the Clyde, right next to the Riverside Museum at Glasgow Harbor. The sales of the whisky help maintain the ship. The Glenlee is a blend of Scotch whiskies matured in combination of American and European oak for a minimum of three years.
Nose: grainy, sweet cereals with raisins, caramel, mixed spice, hints of vanilla and honey and oak shavings.
Palate: breakfast cereals, vanilla, toffee, touch of orange peel, dash of pepper and toasted oak.
Finish: medium long, grainy, with notes of vanilla, caramel hints of dried fruit and oak.
