Jack Daniel’s has been the best selling American whiskey forever, with over 12.5 million cases sold annually worldwide. It is also the most collectable one with thousands (if not millions) of collectors following closely each limited release.
It was in 1866 that Jack Daniel first registered his business with the United States Government, making 1991 the Jack Daniel Distillery’s 125th Anniversary. Though no registration records exist today, it is believed that these dates designate it as the oldest registered distillery in the US. It is also listed as a National Historic Site. Although Jack registered his distillery in 1866, he actually purchased it several years earlier in 1859 from his friend and former employer Dan Call.
In 1990, to celebrate its 125th Anniversary, the distillery released a limited edition of 1-liter commemorative bottles filled with 45% abv Jack Daniel’s Whiskey. This bottle honors the hard work that has gone into the distillery’s long history of success.
