In the late June 2019 BenRiach Distillery revealed details of their newest batch of single cask selection.
Rachel Barrie, the company master blender, selected total of 24 casks, 12 of which earmarked for Europe and another 12 for Asia Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and Canada. The European selection ranged from 7 to 33 years old and included rum, bourbon, port, Rioja, Marsala and virgin oak casks. The whisky presented here, part of the European selection, was distilled on May 13, 2005 and aged in ex-rum barrel # 3435 for 13 years. Bottled at natural strength of 55% abv and without chill-filtration with an outrun of 254 bottles.
Producer’s tasting note:
Nose: tropical notes of guava and cantaloupe melon combine with vanilla; chocolate and coconut covered marshmallow soften and round off the nose.
Palate: tropical fruit salad with pineapple, pear and papaya; honeyed melon and coconut cream linger into the smooth, sweet finish.
