Writer’s Tears Irish Whiskey was launched in 2009 by Walsh Whisky Distillery Company owned by Bernard and Rosemary Walsh, after great success of their The Irishman brand.
Originally independent whiskey bottlers, the Walshes started construction of the new distillery in 2014 in partnership with Illva Saronno. The partnership was dissolved in the early 2019 with the Italians keeping ownership of the distillery. Writer’s Tears Double Oak was included into core range in the spring that year. It is a blend of triple-distilled single malt and single pot still whiskeys aged in combination of ex-bourbon casks (American oak) and ex-cognac casks (French oak) and bottled without chill-filtration.
