Connoisseurs Choice is an old whisky label from Gordon & MacPhail portfolio.
It was introduced in the mid 1960s when the majority of Scottish malt distilleries supplied their whiskies for blending industry without even taking effort to market them as single malts. Toady, half a Century later, Connoisseurs Choice is still part of Gordon & MacPhail’s range and successfully competes with dozens of whisky labels. The Dalmore 2001 presented here was aged in refill American oak hogsheads for around 16 years and bottled at 46% abv in 2017. Dalmore Distillery is located in Northern Highlands and equipped with 4 pairs of stills can produce 4 million liters of spirit per annum. It has been owned by Imperador Inc. since 2014.
Nose: fresh, green apples, pears, cantaloupe, orange peel, sweet cereals, toffee, sultanas, banana bread, hints of eucalyptus and oak.
Palate: grapefruits, lime jelly, bananas, roasted nuts, buttered toast, apple pie sprinkled with cinnamon, dash of white pepper and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of brown sugar, orange marmalade, pepper, licorice and oak.
