Skin Gin was developed in 2014 by Martin Brik Jensen, with the first batch flowing from the still in Mach 2015.
Jensen’s desire was to create gin different in both flavor and appearance to all other gins. His brand is designed to get under the drinker’s skin with its unique aromas, flavors and the texture of the bottles. After months of trials and collaboration with Nordik Edelbrennerei Distillery the final recipe was ready. To create less herbal and more aromatic gin Jensen uses four different citrus – lemon, lime, orange and grapefruit – as well as juniper, coriander and mint. Mint comes from Morocco and coriander from Vietnam, both countries known for producing respective botanicals with extremely rich flavors. The botanicals are separately distilled in two different styles of Holstein stills maximizing extraction of the flavors. Once each ingredient has been distilled the liquids are blended to create the final spirit. The packaging is equally unique, there are three original design colors – Reptile Brown, Anthracite Grey and Blanc Edition – but the gin has variety of skins with about 500 variations of color and style available.
Skin Gin bursts with notes of mint and pink grapefruit, while juniper and coriander are present in the background along with hints of fresh citrus. Jensen recommends to serve his gin with tonic adding a twig of fresh rosemary or basil leaf and slightly squeezing an orange peel.
