The Black Bull brand can trace its origins back to 1864; it was created by George Willshire, the owner of grocery and spirits shop in Dundee.
The original formula consisted of 50% of malt whisky and 50% grain whisky and the blend was bottled at 50% abv. The brand is currently owned by Duncan Taylor Ltd, which rebranded it in 2009 and subsequently expanded the range. The current range includes whiskies aged from 8 to 40 years. The one presented here contains 50% malt whisky and 50% grain whisky aged for a minimum of 8 years. The whisky is bottled at generous 50% abv and without chill-filtration.
