Clynelish Distillery equipped with three pairs of stills produces about 4.8 million liters of spirit per annum and plays important role in Diageo’s portfolio.
It is a backbone of Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve and important component of other Johnnie Walker expressions. Clynelish produces high quality single malt and is one of the Independent Bottlers favorite whiskies. Clynelish 21 years old, part of Douglas Laing’s XOP (Xtra Old Particular) range, was distilled in October 1995 and aged in refill hogshead no. DL 12014. Bottled at natural strength of 54.6% abv and without chill-filtration in September 2017 with an outrun of 265 bottles.
Nose: slightly waxy and mineral, grapefruits, lime jelly, gooseberries, honey, toffee, vanilla, hints of aniseed and white pepper, paraffin and oak.
Palate: waxy and fruity, oranges, pink grapefruits, quince jam, vanilla, golden syrup, lemon grass, roasted peanuts, hints of dried herbs and oak.
Finish: medium long, with notes of citrus, hay, lemon pepper, dash of ginger and oak and faintest hint of smoke.
