Dictador 2 Masters is a series of extremely rare, strictly limited editions of Columbian rums. Each of them was first carefully selected by Dictador’s Master Blender, Hernan Parra.
Next, they travelled to various localities where other tipples are made, and were “processed” further by local masters. The processing meant selecting appropriate casks that previously held those other tipples for further maturation of the rum, and thus enhancing the rum’s flavour profile by notes associated with whisky, cognac, Armagnac or top-quality wines. Each bottle of those limited editions is marked by a very special mark of quality – the fingerprint of Master Blender Hernan Parra of Dictador, and that of an appropriate master that took over the responsibility for the finishing of the rum.
A 39-year-old Dictador Rum from a 1978 single vintage cask finished in sherry casks and then shipped to Leclerc Briant in Champagne, where the rum spent eight months further in lightly toasted TARANSAUD & SEGUIN-MOREAU cask used by Leclerc Briant since 2009. Bottled at 44% ABV. Limited to 390 individually numbered bottles.
Nose: Surprisingly rich, mellow buttered caramel overtones with greener new French oak nuances, toasted coconut, vanilla stalk and salted caramel with freshness and nuttiness.
Palate: A rich, expansive complexity with maple bar over vanilla yoghurt, then honeyed berry character and grape juice. On the mid-palate, it changes character and begins its slow lingering route back to the origins of the rum with condensed sugar cane juice, evaporated milk and hints of honeysuckle flowers.
