Straight from the Cask range is a perfect example how wine and whisky can complement each other.
It offers Edradour single malt aged in various wine barrels and bottled of natural color, without chill-filtration and at natural strength. The whiskies are presented in handsome wooden boxes with color of the box being assigned to the particular wine cask. The whisky presented here was distilled on June 25, 2008 and aged in ex-sherry butt No. 146 for a decade. Bottled on August 21, 2018 at natural strength of 58.9% abv with an outrun of 977 bottles. Edradour remains one of the smallest Scottish distilleries however an expansion completed in 2018 doubled its capacity to 260,000 liters of spirit per annum.
Nose: strong sherry statement, black cherries, raisins, figs, hazelnuts, toffee, vanilla, marzipan, cocoa powder and hints of cedar.
Palate: raisins, blackberries, chocolate-coated cherries, orange marmalade, black pepper, dash of nutmeg and touch of leather.
Finish: long, with plenty of sherry, raisins, roasted almonds, pepper, toffee and oak.
